FEM(ME) behind the scenes! 🎥🍻

One month ago we started shooting FEM(ME), a body horror short by @ninanoelraaijmakers

It was a first for us to shoot a body horror short at a typically Dutch ‘studentenhuis’ in Rotterdam. All the rooms were packed with crew, equipment, make-up & costumes and of course the obligatory student decor like shot glasses, a traffic sign and neckties scattered across the place 🎉 The perfect location for the tale of protagonist Fem, a first year’s student who is experiencing the disturbing changes her body is going through… 😖

Soon we’ll tell you more about this one of a kind body horror short, for now we’d like to offer you a glimpse of set life during shooting FEM(ME)! 🤩😂

We are sooo stoked for this TV release, since it is with immense pride that we present this film to the public 🥹🫶 It’s the most impressive production we did to this day and we can’t believe it has already been one year since we shot it in the historical village of Haps and the dark woods of Lommel, time flies! 😱 All the love for the complete cast and crew (which we love dearly ❤️‍🔥) and ofcourse extra love to our dear director @didier_konings_art who put his trust in us to make Witte Wieven a reality ✨

Let’s fund horror short ‘Pocongdorie’! 🤯

If you love anything creepy and undead (just like us 😈🧟‍♂️), you will definitely like upcoming short film ‘Pocongdorie’!

Pocongdorie tells the story of the Indonesian-Dutch siblings Dwi and his sister Nanda. Throughout the years they grew apart but when their mother dies, they have to sort out their conflicts to arrange everything that needs arranging… including their undead mother who stills haunts their house as a ‘pocong’ 👻😱

When the @hetshotfilms guys introduced us to the concept of a ‘pocong’, an Indonesian ghost with unfinished business wrapped from head to toe in white fabric, we were sold immediately 🤩 Jasper and Ivan have succeeded to write a story that doesn’t just feature a terrifying ghost, but also includes themes like grief, finding out about your heritage and rediscovering love for your siblings. A horror comedy short film filled with the occasional drama and necessary laughs 🌝

Another big step for The Girl with the Green Eyes! ❇️

More GREAT Filmfonds news, because our upcoming magical realism drama The Girl with the Green Eyes (written and directed by Yfke van Berckelaer) received funding for its artistic development 😍🎉 We received the news two weeks ago and were literally jumping for joy! 🥹 This funding means that we are able to further develop the film, including doing a test shoot and creating some badass concept art ✨

We already like to share this first still of the test shoot… what do you think? 💚

After the successful (and extremely fun!) participation at the European Genre Forum earlier this year, it is exhilarating to see that the Dutch Filmfonds believes in the film as well. The dark yet magical story of eight-year-old Mara deserves to be told and we feel honoured to partner with genre champion @yfke.vb , and fabulous script coach @ernietee2000 to bring this tale to life 🫶

Our first body horror film, let’s go! 🤩

YES, we received the most amazing news: Filmfonds granted our submission for Fem(me), a body horror short written and directed by upcoming talent @ninanoelraaijmakers ! ❤️‍🔥This means that, together with the generous funding we received by Playgrounds (Provincie Brabant) and Gemeente Rotterdam, we can now proudly say that we are 100% going to produce this thrilling short film next year 🙌

Fem(me) will tell the tale of young female student Fem, who not only discovers the harsh realities of living the typical student life but also the… well, interesting hunger her very own body seems to develop. A short film purely focused on the female gaze, of course with a fantastical spin and the ultimate body horror twist director Nina Noël is known for 🫀

Nina Noël is one of the talents of the Next Talent Program by @weareplaygrounds (and partners). We immediately connected with her over our shared love for horror film and can’t wait to start this glorious journey with her ✨

LEAF is finally here! ✨

Remember we took an amazing cast & crew to the desert of Spain earlier this year to shoot short film LEAF? 🎥 Well, this post-apocalyptic sci-fi short is now finished and entering the world with a world premiere at the Oscar qualifying festival @bogoshorts! 🤩 It will also have its Turkish premiere at @izmirkisafilmfestivali 💫

LEAF tells the story of Nora and her son Sil who set out to find one of the last green habitats in a future parched earth. But when Sil undergoes a strange physical change during their journey through the merciless heat, Nora’s fear grows of what they will find on the other side of the desert.

Congratulations to all cast & crew with this wonderful premiere! 🥰🎉 We hope to see LEAF appear on many more film festivals all over the world! 🍃

MEAT ME shows the story of Jake, who is searching for love (or at least just a fuck buddy). One night, while chatting with various girls, Jake finally seems to connect with a girl named Rose. After sending her picture, Jake is horrified by her mutilated appearance and decides to ghost her. Obviously not happy with Jake's rejection, Rose begins to hunt him down… 😰

Thursdays are for throwbacks, right? Well, we love looking back at our 4th Genre Hub event from a few weeks ago because it was so much FUN! 🧟‍♂️🤩

Together with Nico van den Brink, @rfx_propmaking, Arjan Sterken, @sinthome1979 and @bertaeles we celebrated ‘Creatures in Genre Film’ and oh boy, do these film makers love creatures! 😈🔥

In a Q&A with Nico, Rolf and Arjan we discussed the witch in ‘Moloch’, the process of making this creature come to life and the importance of good sources on myths and folklore ✨

After that we screened and discussed the short film ‘Souvenir’ by Jasper and Bert with its moth-like and life-draining creature 😰

We ended the night with drinks at FC Hyena and did what the genre film community does best: drink beer and discuss great movies! 🍻

A big shout out to all our guest speakers and @fchyena for making this yet again an unforgettable night! We enjoyed seeing both familiar and new faces and love that our Genre Hub events always seem to inspire and connect people. That's exactly why our Genre Hub exists ❤️

We have a special present for you today because it is time to celebrate! Oh yesss, bloody good news! 😱😍 We just heard that we will receive support from the Dutch Film Fund for the production development of the Shiny New World feature film! 🎉 A film filled with demons, dark humor, and bloody crime scenes.

Sounds like an absolute dream (or nightmare?), right?! 🤨🩸

For now, we can give you this little taster. This was only a testshoot, but we cannot wait to further develop the world of Shiny New World (and all its inhabitants). This is only the beginning! Check out the testshoot results on the Instagram of @shinynewworld !

And just last week director @janvgorkum could add another award to his ever-growing trophy collection, since Shiny won the award for Best Horror at @beestonfilmfestival in the United Kingdom 🥇💂
